I love that they have authentic Chinese food here! Everything we tried (sesame chicken, eel, fish in chili soup, and fried rice) was pretty good and the service was great!

Had been craving Chinese, something other than PeiWei and decided to stop in for dinner, was pleasantly surprised! Restaurant was warm and inviting and our waitress was attentive and great! I would have given this place 5 stars but the lemon chicken I had was chewy and not a lot very flavorful. The wonton soup and the soft shell crab appetizer were excellent, we will be back!

BUYER BEWARE !!!!First of all make sure the prices on their take out menu are the same as they currently charge. We are mailed updated menus often and also get them with our food order. I asked for a mix of shrimp and scallops with Hunan sauce and was told ok. When my wife arrived to pick up our food the manager over charged for the scallops and then added $3 more for the shrimp. The manager was rude to my wife and refused to meet in the middle of what shrimp and scallops cost. FYI The shrimp are a dollar less than the scallops on their menu. After all was said and done our food was cold and there were 4 unfresh scallops for $15.99. We have been loyal customers of this place for years but no more. The manager tonight chose to take advantage of loyal customers for a few extra bucks, BAD BUSINESS. You can say bye to the $$$$ we spend here every year as it will now go to your competition.

This restaurant is open and has been redecorated. Unfortunately, the food is awful. My soup was served cold and I asked that it be warmed. I only got it back after my dinner was served.. Surprise! My dinner was cold too.! In addition, it was bland and nearly tasteless. The service was careless and indifferent.. I used to eat here frequently but will not return. Very disappointing.

ordered "Arnold Palmer" drink, waitress was ignorant on how to prepare TWO times. Then ordered Happy Family; was poorly prepared and taste less. Hot & Sour soup was served warm. Egg roll was the very cheap and common industrial made, without any flavor or taste. not to mention the grease. I would never eat here again. Plus I think many of the existing reviews are bogus,

I have been to Goldne Shanghai twice, thanks to a daily deals site, and both times I was happy with the experience. It is a bit out of the way for most folks in Central Denver, so I probably won't be going often, but the food was very good and the staff was incredibly attentive. We even joked at dinner that we only had time to take one sip of water before it was refilled. This is not a standard Chinese restaurant. They also have other foods from around the region. You can find Japanese, Thai, and other East Asian cuisines on the menu, and everything I had was great.

This is my go-to place for Chinese takeout on Sunday. I always order the Sesame Chicken and Crab Cheese Wontons which comes out to about $20 including tip.Their sesame chicken is nice and crispy when it is fresh, but forget about the crispiness after it has sat in a refrigerator overnight. Also, the delivery time is always less than what they say over the phone, but that could be due to my location.

Pros: Good food. Fresh, healthy (if you order the right thing), good flavor combinations.Cons: This might be hit or miss, but the woman who took my order for delivery was an idiot. She wrote the address down wrong, so the deliverer had to run around a bit. Also, she forgot to add in delivery charge or whatever in the total number she gave me, so the driver got stiffed on his tip because I didn't have the cash ready.

This is a fairly small establishment, but it is well decorated and the waitstaff is fast and friendly. They serve everything from very traditional Chinese cuisine to Americanized favorites. We tried the Golden Sand Tofu and the Spicy Empress Beef. Both dishes were delicious, although I thought that the tofu could have been more flavorful. The best part is that the portions were HUGE--we were able to split each serving into three meals and enjoy the leftovers.

We moved up here to Denver from Colorado Springs in Feb of 2012 and have been trying to find a good quality Asian restaurant that delivers in our area. We received a menu in the mail from Golden Shanghai and were happy to learn that - not only do they deliver - but they are right in the neighborhood, just a few blocks away.First impression from the menu: Lots of variety! We like that a lot. If we aren't in the mood for traditional Chinese we can get sushi, and if we aren't in the mood for that we can get Vietnamese dishes. The menu isn't too big, and I appreciate that for decision-making purposes. We ordered take-out for dinner on Jul 31st so we could see the restaurant and meet the staff. The restaurant is quiet, attractive, clean, and neat. From the outside of the strip mall they're located in, you wouldn't guess that it could be so pretty inside. The staff were very friendly to us and obliging adding to the positive atmosphere, and they clearly take pride in what they do. This is a nice change from many other restaurants in the area where the service is rude, rushed and often wrong. Another note is that when we walked into Golden Shanghai the aroma from the kitchen was inviting. We took our large, neatly packed paper bag of hot food home. For three dishes, all with steamed rice, three egg rolls and three "cups" (pints!) of egg drop soup, our bill was just about 43$. We find this to be an average and fair expense. We ordered Seasame Chicken, General Tao's Chicken, and their Curry Chicken. All of the dishes were cooked perfectly, the vegetables were bright and fresh and not over-cooked at all. Our steamed rice was the right consistency, just a little sticky for the use of chopsticks, and their egg rolls were crisp on the outside, piping hot on the inside and quite flavorful. Even better they were not dripping oil everywhere. Their egg drop soup was hot and very good, and there was a lot of it. Very good quality and quantity. It's good to know that when we order delivery in the future (yes, when!) that the food will arrive hot, 1) because they're so close, and 2) because they clearly work to prepare the food properly.I love curry, and was happy to have Curry Chicken that TASTED LIKE CURRY and not like a bunch of red chilies! Also, the chicken wasn't swimming in sauce, instead the sauce accented the dish and that's very refreshing. It was great to be able to experience all of the flavors of all the ingredients. The General Tao's Chicken is good, but a little on the mild side, at least for my tastes. Despite that the flavor and consistency of it was very good. Their tempura batter was just right. The Seasame Chicken was a little disappointing, as the sauce was very heavy (which isn't unusual, but it isn't necessary, either). It wasn't bad, but I can say of the three dishes we had that night the Curry and General Tao's were the best.I will recommend this restaurant to neighbors and friends in the area, and I know my family and I will return for more when we can. Perhaps we'll try their sushi next time :-)

First I did a take out about 2 days ago, this place is 5 min away from my place by foot!! So I decided to check it out. I had the caterpillar roll and the Alaskan roll. For about $17. The lady who took my order was really nice and the sushi chefs was also very nice. Seemed to be moderate busy and still only waited 5 to 10 mins for my order, not bad. The rolls where good but honestly I like the sushi Katzu rolls better. Well the 2 that i always get, I tried a new one today, one they recommended and I loved it!! Glad i tried something different!! They also allowed me too bring in my own cup for the thai ice tea!! I would say 2nd best thai ice tea i have had :) Since its close to me n I'm happy with them I'm sure I'll visit them again a couple more times. :)

The service has always been speedy and respectful, despite often times being really busy! During dinner hours, the restaurant can be packed! My family is from Taiwan and we love the authentic Chinese options as well as theSzechuan spicy dishes! The restaurant also serves sushi now and it's delish! Great presentation too. My family would honestly say this restaurant is on the best Chinese restaurants in Denver... sounds like others may just have had a bad experience. Give it a try! The food is definitely worth it!

I needed to have dinner for 14 or more. Chinese was easy to pick up so that is what I did. I ordered a few chicken dishes and meat dishes. They said 6 would ve enough. I also ordered egg rolls and they gave me a few puffs with cheese. There was plenty of brown rice. They really were very nice and carried the box to the car.I got to the house and put everything on the table. What no chop sticks! I was going to drive back just to get them but was told no forks would do just fine. I mean really forks with Chinese food.Anyway I freaked because I did not think I ordered enough. Maybe it was because there didn't seem to be enough meat or chicken in the dishes themselves. So I ended up going back and getting 4 more dishes. I finally got my chopsticks. In the end we had more than enough food and two of us took dishes home. The food was ok and since I am not even crazy about Chinese I may not be the best critic but I was not crazy about the food. People were fed and they seemed to enjoy what they ate. Phew. Another dinner down.
